||; In Regrads to the Destiny Plan.

The "Destiny Plan" is an idea proposed by a character who's name is Gilbert Dulindal from the Japanese anime show "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny", released in 2004 by Bandai. He was the "chairman", or the president, of a race of genetically superior humans, which resided in futuristic space colonies. The idea that he proposed was that a person's job would be determined prior to that individual's birth, through a careful analysis of his or her genes. The best job or purpose that would suit him or her best would then be identified and enforced throughout the individual's life.

Many people think that such a plan is unspeakable off, as it will limit the rights of a human being. However, I would personally like such individuals to re-assess their thinking on this matter, as I believe that this course of action is the best for humanity's future.

When people think of pre-determined jobs, they automatically recall the caste system, practiced in the Middle Ages in many countries of the world, perhaps not under the same name. In this case, a person was born from parents and was expected to learn from them and only be allowed to practice the job their parents had. They also think that this individual was only allowed to marry someone of the same profession. The "Destiny Plan" has no such ideals. While it does enforce determining the job of a person without their consent, the job that they will pick is based on the genetic capabilities of the individual, singling out the job that would suit them best and that they would enjoy practicing. As far as I know, that is the only requirement the "Destiny Plan" looks at. If they perform the task they were destined to do, they are free to do as they please, providing that they follow the laws any citizen should. Furthermore, if they have a pre-determined true source of income, it might decrease the poverty issues, let alone the problems of those who remain jobless for certain reasons.

The idea of pre-determining jobs makes people think of unhappiness, but only if that person knew that there are other jobs available. If the parents of the individual brought him or her up properly, they wouldn't neglect the concept of different professions; on the contrary, they should explain how the system works and how every single profession is important to help sustain the cycle of our economy, mentioning from time to time that despite that, the individual's chosen profession is one of the best ones. Of course that would require the parents to personally believe in that statement, not just tell lies to their children.

I would also like to point out that despite that the "destiny plan" has never been put into motion, it is common knowledge that individuals tend to pick up on a job similar to that of their parents simply because that is something they have grown up with and is something that is familiar to them. For example, both of my grandparents were involved in teaching in some way, so my mother is studying to become a teacher as well. No one ever told her to become a teacher, and her parents never encouraged it. She chose to do that because it was something she knew a lot about.

If everyone had a profession, it might decrease the amount of wars fought, as potential soldiers would grow up to be the soldiers and every one else would perform the trade they were destined to perform.

And if some of us still think that it's against human rights, well.... I'd group them with the same people who think that abortion is homicide because the potential children in question don't have a choice. Therefore the mother has no right to kill it, completely disregarding the fact that by stating that they take away the rights of the woman, who is very much capable of making decisions on her own and whose life might depend on it.

I would also like to point out that although there are people among us who are capable of making decisions on their own, quite a few people in our population should not be allowed to make their own decisions as by doing that, they make not only their lives, but the lives of countless others a lot harder (one example would be drinking and driving).

Of course, the reasons above completely disregard the human nature itself. Just like communism, the idea sounds perfect on paper, but when put into the structure of our reality it might prove to be completely worthless, if not harmful. Human emotions such as greed, envy and the simple but true statement "the grass is always greener on the other side" must be taken into account. Teaching children to understand different points of view, compassion, and, most importantly, making sure that they understand that what is being done is being done in their best interests might eliminate some of the problems, but there are always those among us who choose to over-individualize and cause turmoil in the society (the ones who shouldn't have the right to make choices, as I stated above, simply because by doing whatever they did, they might ruin the lives of others). However, nothing ever turns out to be the way it was planned, therefore there is a possibility that nothing could be done to change the way our society works.

This essay was not an attempt to state that this particular idea is the best choice for humanity; for all I know, there could be other ideas that could possibly be even better. I wrote this essay because I felt that despite all of the faults, this is an idea that shouldn't be disregarded completely as it is a rather logical possibility for our society to develop into in a few hundred years.

Author's note: Excuse the pompous language and spelling mistakes/word usage.... i wrote this right after watching political debates, and i er... tried to immitate some of the speakers through this speech. I even felt tempted to use "Mr. Speaker" a few times, but i didn't. I was hoping to use this as an essay on a political plan for school of such assigment was ever to emerge. My humanities teacher would be proud if i ever hand this in.... he's japanese and he enjoys watching things like mecha shows and star wars....
