~ Commander Rau Le Creuset

Rau Le Creuset remains a mystery for the audience throughout most of the series. He is a high-ranking commander in the ZAFT military and most of the time we see him aboard his ship - the Vessalius. According to the information, he recieved the order of the nebula - an award given to the most valued soldiers of the ZAFT forces for an incredible and dangerous feat. He recieved the nebula for single-handedly destroying 40 enemy mobile armors and 6 warships in a GINN unit. Despite the fact that such feats are normally done in loyalty, Rau Le Creuset is quite abnormal.... in that, he has his own hidden agenda to fulfil.
We later find out that he is, infact, a clone of the EA ace Mwu La Flaga's father - Al(u) Da Flaga. Al Da was a rich man who was arrogant and selfish. He cloned himself because he thought his real son wasn't good enough. He conspired with Dr. Ulen Hibiki, and together they created Rau. Because Al wanted his clone to catch up to the age of his son, they altered his telemunes, speeding up his aging process. They intended to stop his rapid aging when he caught up to Mwu, but (surprise surprise.... i wonder how hibiki got his ph.d. in genetics if hes so un-intelegent) but they realised that they couldn't. So then, Rau was condemned to living on pills for the rest of his life. If he didn't take the pills regularly, he would suffer from immense pain that would bring him down to his knees. The years of pain and the realisation of his imprefection twisted Rau's mind and he began to seek to destroy all of humanity.
Yet no one ever realised this. He put on a show for everyone, and every one knew him as a briliant, loyal commander and a dangerous enemy. Only in the very end when the strain of all of the preparations and planning, his true self began to show.
Most SEED fans, when they think of Rau, think of him as some kind of evil, a selfish person who only thought of himself. But you need to realise that Rau didn't choose to be created. He didn't choose to be defective. In all of his life, Rau never had anyone who loved him for who he really was. No one ever loved or cared for him, so he locked himself up inside, not letting anyone see he true identity, hiding behind a mask. As a child all he experienced in the world was cruel and had no compassion at all... so he learned to adapt and became cruel and heartless as well. It's like osmosis... things flow from where there's most to where there's least until it evens out. He suffered from the day he could think and understand about what he really was to the end of his life. He never had a mother and a father (al da wasn't exactly kind to his poor defective clone). No one there to teach him to love and to care. Once again, he didn't choose to be evil; he merely learned from others. Many people can't see it, but all Rau is, all he trully is... he's just a deeply troubled and saddnened (forlorn?) man who was never taught about kindness. That's all.
